Bio
Hi, I’m Dr. Whitley Grant-Goodman, a licensed therapist, speaker, researcher, and consultant dedicated to helping high-achieving Black women and the organizations they work in create sustainable success without sacrificing wellbeing.
I earned my Ph.D. in Higher Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where my research explored racial trauma and the experiences of Black women navigating historically White environments.
With more than a decade of clinical experience, my work sits at the intersection of mental wellness, identity, leadership, and psychological safety.
Like many of the women I serve, I know what it feels like to navigate high-pressure environments while carrying the weight of expectations, responsibility, and the pressure to always be strong.
My own experiences with burnout and challenges around belonging reinforced what my research and clinical work continue to show: success should never require self-abandonment.
Whether I’m sitting with a therapy client, speaking to an audience, or partnering with an organization, I challenge the belief that thriving comes from simply doing more. Instead, I encourage people to examine patterns of over functioning, strengthen boundaries, cultivate psychological safety, and create lives and workplaces that support long-term wellbeing.
My mission is to create spaces where people feel seen, supported, and empowered to redefine success on their own terms. I believe belonging should never require shrinking yourself, and that the healthiest measure of achievement is not how much you can carry, but how fully you can thrive while staying connected to yourself.
What I Do
I support individuals and organizations through:
-
Individual and group coaching for burnout recovery, boundaries, confidence, emotional regulation, and identity
-
Speaking and professional development trainings on burnout, belonging, psychological safety, emotional wellness, and healthy relationships
-
Workshops and keynotes for organizations committed to building sustainable performance and well-being
My approach blends clinical skill, lived experience, and practical tools to create meaningful, lasting change.
My Background & Experience
I am a licensed mental health therapist with a background in cognitive behavioral therapy and more than 10 years of experience in clinical work, higher education, and mental wellness programming. I earned my PhD in Higher Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where my research focused on belonging, identity, and the workplace experiences of Black women in predominantly white spaces.
Over the years, I’ve facilitated trainings, coaching programs, and keynotes for professionals, students, and organizations nationwide.

How My Work Is Different
What makes my work unique is that I do not believe burnout or isolation is a personal failure. I help clients understand both their internal patterns and the external systems that shape their stress. Together, we build clarity, stronger boundaries, emotional steadiness, and self-trust so that success no longer comes at the expense of well-being.
My work is practical, supportive, and grounded in real life not pressure, perfection, or hustle culture.
This Space Is For You If...
-
You feel emotionally tired but continue pushing through
-
You struggle with boundaries at work or in relationships
-
You feel successful on paper but disconnected inside
-
You want to feel confident, grounded, and supported
-
You want a life that feels sustainable, not just impressive
Fun Facts
When I’m not coaching or speaking, I love watching rom-coms, traveling with my family, and spending time with my very active toddler.
